Amatuktuk Safaris

Amatuktuk are pleased to announce the start of Amatuktuk Safaris in Knysna. Currently our fleet comprises of 1 x 6 seater Sabai and 2 x 3 seater Icons.

Our initial route is from the Knysna Waterfront through the town and along George Rex Drive up to the Heads Lookout. Passengers have a 5-10 minute break here to view the scenery and take photographs. We then wind our way down to the Heads car park where passengers can avail themselves of refreshments which we have already pre-booked for them from the East Head Café. The stop is for about 10 minutes before we tuk tuk along to Leisure Isle for some more magnificent views of the famous Knysna Lagoon. The drop off point is at the Tuk Tuk Terminus opposite the Outeniqua Choo Tjoe on Remembrance Drive.

The tour lasts between 1-1/2 hours and the cost is R90 per person. Our tuk tuks are also available for hire for visits to other areas within the Knysna Muncipal Area at the client’s request. Prices are R45 per person per half hour. A trip to Buffels Bay or Brenton On Sea can be arranged by request. All our tuk tuk pilots have full motorcycle licences and PDPs and are sensible, mature adults who still possess a sense of fun!
The tuk tuks come complete with sound systems and MP3’s, and blankets for clients who feel the cold!

OPENING CEREMONY:

The official opening ceremony was performed outside the Oyster Catcher Bar at 11 o‘clock on Monday 15 th September 2008. It was attended by officials from Knysna Tourism, members of the press and local dignitaries.

Amatuktuk Safaris owner, Jon Titley, performed the blessing of the tuk tuks by pouring a bottle of champagne over them. Thai food was prepared by his wife, Lisa.
